Pow Wow Teachings with Kiniw Cleland

Join us at 2:00 PM EST on Friday, June 18, 2021 for Pow Wow Teachings with Kiniw Cleland.In partnership with St. Clair Student Representative Council, Indigenous Student Services proudly presents Pow Wow Teachings with St. Clair College Alumni, Kiniw Cleland. Listen along as Kiniw talks about Pow Wow etiquette, dancer regalia, and Pow Wow dance styles. The sharing of knowledge will help participants better understand and enjoy the events and activities which occur at many traditional and competitive Pow Wows. As a Pow Wow enthusiast and Men’s Traditional Dancer, Kiniw will share his journey, and insights into the role Pow Wows play as an extension of Indigenous continuation, and the reclamation and restoration of cultural practices. Through spreading awareness of Indigenous celebrations and cultural traditions, participants are welcome to ask questions as Kiniw goes through the many teachings surrounding the richness of Indigenous traditional gatherings.
Registration is open to everyone. Students, Staff and Faculty from St. Clair College are encouraged to attend.
This event is offered free of charge.
